Organic Winter Squash

Product Description Available varieties include: spaghetti, butternut, acorn and kabocha. Winter squash have a thick, tough shell with sweet, rich flesh and seeds and fibers at the center that get removed. There are lots of ways to cook winter squash including roasting, baking, steaming and microwaving. Squash can be enjoyed as is, made into soup, added to stews, curries and pasta, or pureed and added to bread, baked goods and sauces. When choosing a squash look for one that is heavy for its size with a dull and firm rind. Squash are excellent storage vegetables and should be kept in a cool, dry and ventilated spot and once cut, should be covered and stored in the fridge. They are a good source of fiber, vitamin C as well as other vitamins and minerals.
